Last weekend on March 18th and 19th, our team competed in the Week 3 Peachtree District Gwinnett Qualifier. After 54 qualification matches, we were ranked third. The #1 ranked team, FRC 4509 (Mechanical Bulls), picked us as their first alliance partner for the playoff rounds. The third team chosen for Alliance 1 was FRC 8577 (Georgia Cyber Academy Champions). Alliance 1 went undefeated through the upper bracket matches, but in the end, we lost the finals matches to Alliance 2 who put up a tough competition. Although we did not win the event, we were still Finalists!
In addition to becoming event finalists, our team and teammates brought home several fantastic awards:
We won the Excellence in Engineering Award, which celebrates a team that demonstrates a professional approach to the design process.
Our team president, Atman S., became a Dean's List Semifinalist and will advance to the Peachtree District Championship in April. Dean's List nominees are students who lead their teams and communities to increase awareness of FIRST and its mission while achieving technical expertise and success.
Our Safety Captain for the event, Aadya M., won the Safety All-Star Award, which is a peer nominated award!
Over the next two weeks, we will continue to make minor repairs to Odin, by improving our autonomous paths and optimizing its weight. Wish us luck at the Peachtree District Championship from April 5th-8th!
