The Techno Titans recently participated in the Georgia Robotics Invitational Tournament and Showcase (GRITS) event designed to give FRC teams an additional opportunity to compete with the current year’s theme, RAPID REACT. This annual off-season competition GeorgiaFIRST hosts is a great opportunity for new team members understand and experience FRC action, and help returning students get back into the swing of things.
GRITS was held October 22-23 in Gainesville, GA. We traveled up I-985 to the beautiful Riverside Military Academy campus and were very excited for competition. During qualifying matches, the robot experienced a few issues, but morale was high, and the team showed their competition spirit by cheering for our alliance each match.
At Alliance selection, we were chosen as the second alliance partner by the captain of Alliance five – FRC 4026, Global Dynamics. FRC 4509, the Mechanical Bulls, was chosen as first alliance partner. The quarterfinals were a blast, and the entire team enjoyed watching the matches. We lost our first alliance match against Alliance 4 but managed to come back in the second round and win – forcing a tie breaker match. Hard as we all fought, we just didn’t manage to win our third match, and Alliance 4 went to the semifinals.
All in all, GRITS was fun for the whole team. We now look to wrap up our year and start the new FRC CHARGED UP season in January. Thank you for all your support and encouragement this year. We hope to build on our experience and make 2023 a big season for the Techno Titans!
